Honors Biochemistry and Molecular Biology junior Gretchen Fujimura is one of two Oregon State students to receive the 2022 Goldwater Scholarships, the nation’s top undergraduate award for sophomores and juniors in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

Since graduating from OSU with a degree in biochemistry & biophysics, Bango has been in the Peace Corps, worked in a malaria research laboratory in Botswana and is now working on the front lines of COVID-19 testing and treatment in Los Angeles County, California.
A medical school aspirant, Biochemistry and pre-med Honors student Trisha Chau is deeply interested in helping underserved populations internationally and has undertaken volunteer work in Puerto Rico and Indonesia.
Although she describes herself as “an unlikely science student,” Biochemistry and Biophysics senior Lindsay Winkenbach can’t think of anything better than continuing her voyage of scientific adventure and discovery after graduation.
