OSU band playing in front of Memorial Union evening celebration

Drum major Erin Mendelson, BB Class of 2023, leads the OSU Band at the launch of the Believe It campaign.

Welcome to BB!

There are many ways to be involved in the community as a biochemistry student at Oregon State! Our undergraduates are engaged in many extracurricular activities both on campus and in our community. They are musicians, artists, leaders, volunteers, athletes, community advocates and so much more. Our students are a compassionate, diverse group of people who make the biochemistry learning community vibrant and exciting to be a part of.

Biochemistry Club

All undergraduate majors are encouraged to participate in the Biochemistry Club. Activities include monthly professional development and social events with faculty members, a fall welcome social, talks by local faculty, chances to meet with visiting scientists, and numerous outreach activities.

Biophysical Society Student Chapter

The OSU BPS Chapter is committed to professional growth and responsibility in the area of biophysics, as well as outreach and informal science education. Connect with your peers and learn how you can make biophysics approachable and digestible for your community!

Outreach and engagement

Engaging new students with science can help us get a head start on addressing issues that arise in the future and benefit the world as a whole. We are passionate about “revealing how life works” by hosting workshops, conferences, and events for Oregon teachers, students and the general public. Students in our undergraduate and graduate clubs often participate in these events, cementing their own learning and teaching young people to fall in love with science.

Student resources

Oregon State provides numerous student resources, covering student well-being to career development and academic support. Our department has also collected a list of relevant information to help new and transferring students succeed in the BB department.
